Give N’ Gobble, the annual Thanksgiving Day run that supports Sherwood Helping Hands Food Bank will be holding an onsite silent auction fundraising effort Thanksgiving morning at the Sherwood High School Track.  Beyond a fun and healthy way to kick off Thanksgiving for hundreds of people of all ages, Give N’ Gobble’s purpose is to raise money for the local food banks through sponsorship, registration fees, t-shirt sales, and contributions to the auction.

To date, the Give N' Gobble has raised over $50,000 and nearly 40,000 pounds of food, funding the annual expenses of the Helping Hands food bank which enables them to feed thousands of people in our area.  Also, thanks to the funds raised through the Give N' Gobble, Helping Hands food bank was also able to start a new backpack program on Fridays that supplies children in need with a backpack of nutritious food to get them through the weekend - otherwise many of these children went hungry from their school lunch on Friday until Monday.  

We are in the process of collecting merchandise for the event, and I’m writing to request your assistance in making Give N’ Gobble a success.  By donating an item, gift certificate or service, you’ll be making a tax-deductible contribution that will help Sherwood Helping Hands Food Bank continue to fight hunger in our own backyard.  The event, a 5K walk/run and 10K run starts at 9am on Thanksgiving Day.  Auction supporters are welcome, but attendance is not required.  Your company will benefit from exposure of your name/logo prominently displayed on silent auction bid sheets as well as additional promotion pertaining to the event.

According to the Oregon Food Bank “every dollar donated enables them to collect and distribute 6 pounds of food to fight hunger.”  Our goal with the directors of the food bank is to make sure NO child in our area goes to bed hungry -  this even has literally help put an end to hunger at a local level. This is a great opportunity to help those less fortunate while increasing goodwill and market awareness of your business.
